Plastic Airfoil Introduction Statement

Our goal at the All-American Soap Box Derby is to provide our customers with the most efficient, quality parts and products available for Derby racing. In order to achieve this goal, we are introducing a new and improved plastic airfoil to be used on Stock and Super Stock Division cars.

In order to ensure precision in each piece, the airfoils will be manufactured using injection molding. This procedure ensures that each airfoil manufactured will be identical. The new airfoil was designed utilizing a computer program; therefore, each product will be manufactured with precise measurements and was created to be the most efficient design for the airfoil’s use. These new, plastic airfoils are aerodynamically superior to the wooden pieces currently in use.

The plastic version of the airfoil will be replacing the original wooden version as a standard feature in Stock and Super Stock cars. This required and mandatory change will take effect on August 1, 2009. All cars must change over to the new airfoil to compete as of this date. The NCB is incorporating this change into the 2009/2010 assembly plans and will be posted on our website before the August 1 deadline.

This new airfoil will be introduced and become available for purchase during this year’s AASBD World Championship. It will also be sold on our online storefront, which can be found by visiting our website (www.aasbd.com) and then selecting “Online Store.” The price for each set will be $16.50.
